Wow I must say I didnt see that coming. I had caught wind of FXCM being in some hot water but I didnt know it was that bad. Thanks for the news.
Whoa that’s a bit of a shock … was pretty much the only thing they had going for them :o
It seemed so … but on the other hand, the funds from this deal will enable them to repay another chunk of the loan that’s been keeping them afloat for a while (taking their repayment up to 50%, now). I know it seems a stretch - especially given their shocking regulatory record and so on - but [I]maybe[/I] they [U]can[/U] somehow still find a way to survive? 
Bit of a shock this. Can anyone recommend alternative brokers to look at? Not that I’m immediately about to jump ship but Id like to keep my options open.
For a genine broker, I recommend Interactive Brokers. For a counterparty market-maker, I recommend Oanda. I’ve used each, for many years, without problems, and my due diligence satisfied me that both are about as good, reliable, ethical and honest as you can get. (More recently, I’ve heard that Oanda’s spreads are more variable than they used to be.)
