So I lost my wallet this weekend. We went to a restaurant and Target, and that’s about all I could remember. Kids will do that to you. Then I thought, there’s got to be a smarter way of confirming where I’d gone.
Did a quick Google search and came up with this: Google Timeline
Timeline and Google track my location through my phone and Google maps, and they have an absolute scary accurate idea of where I’ve been.
They even map your days, weeks, months out, show you a path based on time and location, and then they connect the data to give you a complete look at your [input time interval here].
Here’s a cool article about it with pictures, so you can see what I see:
It’s really cool after a trip overseas, as Google creates Timeline stories, that capture pictures and video you’ve taken, along with your location data, and they create a visual album with the timeline and all the media, including maps, flight plans, etc.
Oh yea, my wallet! So I visited the places I had been to over the weekend, checked lost and found, nothing. At least I had confirmed where I had been.
Minutes before I was ready to start calling credit card companies, my kid pulled my wallet out of the easy bake oven in the kids room and said, “Here dad!” This was after the hour of driving around with my kid to the various places to find the damn thing!
Order restored!
