Have I done right? (chart picture)

Hi guys
3 weeks ago i started learning about forex and yesterday decided to open a demo account.
I made a screen shot of one of the char and wanted to ask you if i did well.
So there it is:

I opened the chart at 13:00 and i saw that the trend goes few steps up
and than decreases (1-5)
At the 6th time it went upwards i decided to make a short.
My question is if i was thinking right?
or if there was any move that i could make that i didn’t thought about.

You making profit? then you did it right no mattr what you did.

in general, you followed th bigger trend so you were on the right side

That doji candlestick alone was a good indication that it was time to short.

In theory you have did it right. However, that is only one small part of this trade (entry), so now you need to make sure that you have all the other parts of this trade (puzzle) ready, like risk and money management, exit strategy etc.

Thanks guys

This is a great place to start and you’re already way ahead of the pack of newbies simply by the way you are looking @ price action context. Here’s what I’d add:

Do you see the bearish breakout structure formed @ 3,4,5? Buyers held that horizontal zone, as well as sellers to the topside? When an instrument is moving in one direction, then “pauses” like this, you can typically expect price to explode in the original direction of the trend.

The trade you identified is: “A trend continuation bearish breakout of horizontal support followed by a corrective pullback”. That corrective pullback is exactly what you’d want to see in order to get short at/around the original breakout level. From a price action standpoint, this is the bread and butter of order flow analysis and how most successful chart-traders actually trade.

Great work!

Thank you very much for your comment
