Just want to introduce myself, the online name is Dreighen or Dre for short. I am completely wet behind the ears when it comes to Forex trading. My background consists of some investing in the markets for retirement and in my ameritrade account. I also play poker (profitably) so I understand risk/reward concepts, bankroll (capital) management to prevent risk of ruin, etc.
I hope to apply the same fundamentals I learned in poker to forex trading. That includes, managing risk, my capital, not getting emotionally invested in the money (poker players have to have a disregard for their money once it’s on the felt) and to learn as much as possible.
I plan on learning to be a solid trader above everything else starting out, by absorbing as much information as possible. I then plan on taking that information and applying it methodically towards my trading goals.
I don’t have any preconceived notions at this point. I’m an open canvas, hoping to learn and earn.
Greetings Dre and welcome to the community! Since you have a pretty good understanding of risk management down, you’re half way there…sort of… I say sort of because understanding risk and that losing trades are a part of the business is probably the biggest psychological hurdle for newbies to overcome. Developing your own framework shouldn’t be too tough after you learn the nuances of the forex markets, but like anything else, it will take time–stay patient and focused on the process. Glad to have you aboard Dre and looking forward to seeing more from ya in here. Good luck!
