Hi to all, I go by the name of ‘gilconz’ and I live in Nelson New Zealand. For those that don’t know where I am, I am at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean about 3 hours flying time from Australia.
I have been learning and playing around with forex for about a year now and still learning heaps and would love to learn more from a good steady group of traders, but there is so many out there it is hard to pick the good from the bad. This is my main reason for coming here as from what I have read so far at least you get told like it is.
I am working my way through the school lessons and enjoying it. I would like to find a mentor that I can work with and learn from and hoping this is a good place to start.
Hence the gills, perhaps, to avoid anoxia? I see from those scientific programmes on the Discovery and National Geographic channels that there are all kinds of previously unrecognised life-forms, down there, in environments hitherto believed too inhospitable for them … :33:
Indeed … and here you highlight one of the common difficulties of “getting educated” for trading. It’s terribly difficult, sometimes, to distinguish between information and misinformation (perhaps especially in forums and on websites where, by definition, there’s absolutely no quality control of information at all, and anyone can “publish” anything).
Please excuse the warning, but do make sure that it’s a mentor who is (a) where you want to be, and (b) whose primary income-source is from trading rather than from mentoring. Personally, I’d strongly suggest you accept no “mentoring” from anyone without first independently verifying the benefits of that person’s mentoring from previous mentees to whom you speak yourself, and don’t rely on prepared “testimonials” of any kind. I mention it mostly because in this forum there’s rather a long history of people promoting commercial “mentoring services”, and some/most/all of them, frankly, are doing so only because it’s a much easier income-source for them than trading would be, given their own knowledge-level: all too often, they “talk a good game” (though sometimes not even that!) but actually know very little of any real value.
And on that cautionary note, welcome to the forum, Gilconz!
Thanks for the welcome lexys, is there anyone you would recommend that is part of this site or anyone that I can follow their comments and learn something from them?
Sorry for the slow reply, Gilconz - I’ve only just seen your post, this minute.
You ask a very good question! Deciding “by whom to be guided” is one of the most important things to do, in joining and using a forum.
It’s a tricky question to answer, because one doesn’t want to offend anyone by not mentioning them! But I think you’ll find the posts of Manxx, Rhodytrader, Clint, Jezzode and WinPsych helpful and always accurate.
