help needed with placing trades on oanda?

You’ll have to be a little more specific…

What exactly is the problem?

phil
i cant seem to be able to place the stop loss where i want it. I keeps telling me to put it 30 pips plus?

My advice is to download a MT4 platform from a broker that has them for demos. This is by far the most commonly used platform for trading Forex. I can recommend a broker if you need it. I will be happy to help you with any questions about an MT4 platform. Just PM me. I don’t have a clue about Onada. Sorry.

what is the spread on the pair?

maybe it’s a fifth decimal thing: 1.35201 - the 1 is a pipette, that is, the 0 is one normal pip and the 1 is another decimal added my many brokers, Oanda is one of them.

If the quote were 1.3520, then a 3 pip SL would be at 1.3523 or 1.3517 depending on long or short trade. With pipettes you have to input 30 pips to get the same SL.

Are you more or less confused now? :D:o

Learning how to use Oanda’s platform has a learning curve. Have you figured out the position sizing yet:D The 30 pip stop is probably what MacGyver said or you are working with a pair that has a high spread.

I agree, it’s probably either pipettes like MacGyver said or you’re trading a pair that has a 30 pip spread on the weekend.

If you could post a screenshot we could tell you for sure what the problem is…

Hi,

You are able to set the stop in pips rather then using price, as long as you click the box (in pips).
