For back testing use Metatrader 4 
MT4 collects a history and is useful for backtesting. I prefer to do this manually rather than use a programme as it gives me a real feel for the data. Trade the News is an excellent and reasonably priced service for fundamental data although is provided for free on some platforms but is delayed. Before developing your own system why not use one already proven such as the Cowabunga system since this follows logically from the school
