Hey, guys. I want to make a deposit of $100 and trade the size of a 0.01 lot

What is the right leverage?

Use 5:1 max. But with only $100 balance straight away you’re at 10:1. It will be a long journey ahead.

Hi. The right leverage is to not trade live with only a capital of $100, because you will lose it - realistically guaranteed unless of course you’re a time traveller. Put it in a savings account and use a demo account with a capital of $2,000 instead, and learn first using 0.08 - 0.16 lot size.

Cobber, he’ll learn a lot more losing his $100 real account than wasting his time in a demo.

And lot sizing between 0.8 -0.16 is terrible advice. 0.1 lots maximum. Or 5 x 0.02 lots, or 2 x 0.05x lots. But I’ll presume 0.8 is a typo, please use the edit button

Overleverage is terrible terrible advice. The only time leverage should be used is if you only keep a percentage of your total trade account with your broker to cover margin call

Yeah, a typo. No way would I recommend excess leverage. 0.08 - 0.16 on a $2000 demo account works out fine with me, with a maximum 1-1.5% risk.

Why use a live $100 account with zero chance of becoming profitable and no chance of learning - it’s just nonsensical.

i dont think, he will be able to open a position in a lot size of 0.01 with this leverage.

He’ll learn more on a $100 account than listening to the crap spewed forth on this site, thats for sure.

Think he will

There are brokers out there who would sell their souls to rake in live money every time a guy wants to lose it.

They don’t have to sell their souls, they just rub their hands together.

But then again so do university book shops!

If you are trading with $100, please maximize the leverage. Or else you are at a very risky position.

Hey everyone, pls I need you guys to put me through on application of position size to either sell or buy trade.

If for example I calculated the position size for EUR/USD and I got 2,500 unit. How do I apply 2,500unit on my MT4???

100 000 units equals 1 lot

Why??? :thinking::thinking::thinking:

Meaning that for 2,500 units, I will use a mini lotsize which is 10,000 units(0.10)???

If margin too low it will occupy most of you capital just to allow you to open an transaction. Its not convenience if you can’t maximize your trading with $100. In the meantime, it will cost your transaction being close if you don’t have enough margin to hold the trade.

Your honor, I rest my case

If you broker has a min lot size of 0.1 I’d find another broker

Hey I literally just started too and I encountered the same problem. Basically, what’s worked for me is that if you increase your leverage ( I am at 1:30) but stuck with the lot size at 0.01, you’ll be trading at around £0.77 per 100 pips. I feel like leverage doesn’t matter too much if you’re keeping lot size very low; right?
