hello guys, i know how to backtest EA with strategy tester, downloading tick data and all that. thing is, i have a manual strategy (that to my knowledge) seems too complicated to create into an EA, and thats why I still trade manually using this strategy. What I do so far (to manually backtest my strategy) is just scroll my chart to the left, like let’s say to 2012 chart, then scroll right, one bar by bar one slowly then stop when I find a setup that I suppose to take. This way it’s very time consuming not to mention I might overlook some setups because when I scroll to the right I might scroll 5-6 bars at once (not that easy to drag our chart one bar by one bar lol).
I want to know how can we properly backtest our strategy that will save time as well as provide accurate result other than this very time-consuming manual backtesting. Im thinking of ‘simulating’ our trades using historical data. like let’s say i want to test my strategy in EURUSD H1 for the year 2012. Then the software will create each H1 bar every 10-20 seconds from 1 January 2012 then we pause if we want to pause (in case we find the setup for our strategy)! Is that possible? If yes, what software and how to do it?Thanks!
Backtesting your strategy manually is the best way to gain experience and become better at trading. It is time consuming, but it is really worth it, besides eveything requires a sacrifice. Move your chart as much as you can to the left and then if you are using Metatrader platform, just clic on the F12 key on your keyboard to move one bar at a time. Go slowly and keep a log. Do it on differente time frames and different instruments. Your back is going to hurt, your eyes are going to swell, but like I said, it is a really enrichment experience wich no automatic EA can replace. Good luck.
ahhhh i didnt know the f12 key. what i did was scrolling to the right using my mouse, so sometimes i may have missed a setup because when i scroll sometimes i scroll 5-6 bars at once lol
thanks. if there’s easier way than this, i would like to know
