How far back would you backtest?

Hi, I’m a newbie here… Just wondering, how far back do you all normally backtest your EAs, if testing on a daily chart? Esp for EURUSD, since it is a relatively new currency…

I am relatively new to forex trading and I don’t know much about the history of EURUSD… When did EURUSD start trading? I read on wikipedia that Euro coins and banknotes entered circulation on 1 January 2002… Did EURUSD start trading in 2002? Or earlier? Thanks.
