How many hours a day are you putting into trading?

That’s the general routine for a full time trader; same from me!

This year I’ve been making some attempts at day-trading - I’ve been a long-term trader for soooooo long…

Results have been poor but I might now be turning a corner. So, how much time do I want to spend trading is a very good question for me today. I’d say 9 hours a day, 4 days a week, but lots of half-hour breaks.

Do you ever trade Mondays? I think there’s a stat somewhere that largest price swings happen at the beginning of week, like Monday to Wednesday. But I guess it all depends on where in the world you are.

Still, trading only on Tuesday means, if you were in the US, you would miss the opens of Asia on Sunday, UK open early Monday morning, US session, and repeat. Ever thought about doing your TA on Sunday?

Woah, nice. Yea, I couldn’t sit that long I don’t think, without many, many breaks and lots of coffee.

168 hours in a week - if’n you can’t use 120 of them - Others will be outperforming you ! :slightly_smiling_face:

As little time as possible because I want to trade for better lifestyle. Hopefully to one day give up full time work.

I am not sure how trading less leads to better trading?

Less trading but smarter trading leads to better trading. And better lifestyle too.

Aah, I see what you mean. And I do agree about that.

For trading you don’t need much time. Butfor learning yes.

We’re getting technical, but you’re right. The trade setup, quick and easy. Getting to the setup, many hours of learning, testing, trading, losing, winning, more losing (in my case anyway).

Always different, everything depends on the mood and morale. It happens that you can trade for 8-10 hours, and sometimes after 2 hours of trading, you just get tired. When you trade, the main thing is not to overdo it; because of fatigue, you can make the wrong decisions and lose your investment.

Yea, that the overtrading. Sometime I feel like I need to have a trade going to show myself I’m learning and doing it, and that doesn’t always work out with making any pips.

I try not to overdo it during trading, because it leads to bad consequences. On average, I do not spend more than 6 hours of trading. Sometimes during working hours, I make small pauses to reboot my brain, and it helps a lot. It is clear that during trading, there is raging excitement and greed, but you need to create rules for yourself, which will help to stop in time and not to lose extra investments.

I prefer to spend the normal rate for only 8 hours and the rest of my time dedicate it to my family.

Is this in a single day? That would be a ton of time for me in a day. I don’t think I could last that long. Are you scalping? Is that time behind the screen watching charts or other stuff too?
