How much time do you spend per day reading the news?

I’m talking like financial news, not really covid or celeb or some other type of news.

I don’t spend time for news. But I try to keep the idea.

Enough to keep abreast of possible outcomes affecting currencies and economic outlooks before I start my morning trading activities.

the trading spreads during news its much volatile and make the complicate environment and for that reason its really difficult to predict the market with certainly, that’s why i never tried at all .

I cannot read financial news for more then 15 minutes. It gets a little too much after that. Lol.

I don’t read any financial news on a daily basis for forex trading. I take the view that
a) the big banks know the news earlier than I do so I can’t get in or out ahead of them
b) they have clever clever people in the banks who can analyse news better than I can
c) the big banks can’t buy or sell without moving price, and if its price is not moving there is no reason to trade a given pair

Actually I do check that there has been positive news for one of my share trading strategies. This involves buying around earnings announcements or trading updates - I look for a positive stream of news items for the company or sector going back at least 6 months. But then again I don’t actually read the news items, I just check what they are (such as dividend increase, new product line etc.) to confirm a positive outlook. The decision to buy or stay out is based on whether price has been rising across the period.

PS. I’m not intra-day trading.

reading financial news for news trading is not an easy issue , need a long term patience , otherwise no way.

But wouldn’t looking back at your chart tell you everything you needed to know? I don’t read the news cause the chart is going to tell me anyways how price was effected. The only news I do stay aware of and I just mean the day really is NFP.

Points I usually go by as well.

I read at 7:30 latest informations on investing.com what happened during the night and what is on the time table for today, to get a broader impression of market sentiment what may lead to some opening pips when Xetra starts at 09:00hrs.
Approx. 10-30 minutes,

Hahahahahaha, I like how you specified “news”. I make sure to go through at least 2-3 articles each day.

Of late not a lot. However, three events have caused this to revert back to what I think would be a fair assessment of up to an hour a day. I have reverted back to older news sources.

1 Crypto is on the move again after a 3 month rest
2 Gold and silver are interesting to me again since I am planning some buy/sell activity in our portfolio
3 For the first time in over two years, we have some small but encouraging equipment orders from Kurdistan, so USD/EUR/GBP is of interest again to our small business over there

I guess overall, things are looking up for us - firing on 2 1/2 out of 4 cylinders, better than 1 1/2 for the last six months.

Wow that’s pretty far back! Is this via Google or do you have access to a Bloomberg terminal lol.

Truly. I once forgot it was NFP lol. I try not to open trades on Fridays these days.

Ah super helpful. Thanks!

Sell?? Oh I thought we’re all about buying these two nowadays :open_mouth:

Man I can’t remember when I last touched a newspaper!

So 19th century!
