PipHacker!!!
I’m 21 right now. I’ll be graduating from college next week and going to university in the fall. Business, majoring in accounting.
I’ve been investing in the stock market (live) since I was 18 and started demoing forex in February. Despite everyone I know who invests in stocks telling me that forex is nothing but a money pit, 95% of people lose, yadda yadda.
A lot of stock knowledge transferred over to forex, but I must say that I’ve had more hands-on experience and learned more about technical analysis in the last 3 months than I have in the past 3 years of trading stocks.
My first demo account got margin called when I got too ambitious. Since then I’ve opened another one which I trade more realistically as if it was my own money, and it’s going strong. My account hasn’t fallen below my opening balance for the past 50 trades, and I’ve been up as much as 30% at times.
I’m currently working with my friend, who is a programmer, in an attempt to create a very effective EA that will make us both rich. Hopefully we will have it done and all tested by the end of summer.
If I can make $50,000+ a year trading forex (or better yet, making a program to do it for me) by the time I’m done university, I won’t need to get a boring 9-to-5 for the next 30+ years… this is my ultimate goal.
I am a newbie and do not have the time to watch the computer’s screen all day. Can you you give me some advice on your method of trading e.g. time you do your set up, what you are looking for before you set your trade and importantly your money management rule as it fits your longer term (daily chart) trading? i.e where u set your stops & limits?
Well I’m 36 and well I hope it’s not too old to begin in this business. Would have come earlier if I had known that this was possible in such a simple way on the net. I thought so far that Forex was for rich boys that had to be somebodies with a pass to the NYSE and lots of funds …
I always find these types of threads interesting as most folks give a little bit more info that simply their age and you get to see into the reasons people are going down the trading road
Myself, 38. Discovered Forex totally by accident through a spam scam email about buying a system to make $X profits easy. Knew it was a scam but did my research anyway which lead me to BabyPips.com. It’s been Forex every chance I get (still have that day job thing) since then.
The upside is simply to great to pass up taking a chance on it. Still learning, still demo’ing but I do see the light at the end of the tunnel, now reaching…that’s another story.
25, Married, 2 twins just born April 1st, 3 dogs 1 cat. Love being the manager of a scrap metal yard, but I took up flying and want a better plane. Been trading FX for about 6 months now and feel like im just now scratching the surface, Love every minute of it.
personally i deeply regret that i dicovered the opportunities of the internet and forex not earlier, now i have blown my first account,so i have learned my lesson and can start earning money and enjoy my pension later in florida
29 also married have 2 boys. Know some people that do very well in forex so I thought I’d give it a try. Hoping to make a career out of it. Father kinda disowned me since I switched majors to finance from dentistry(he’s a dentist), he was helping me get through college initially. Tried to do college with my own $ couldn’t afford both that and feeding my family, my wife secretly racking up creditcard debt didn’t help. Fastforward 2 years. I am currently out of dept with 7K+ and a few fully paid for toys. I think I could now go back to school if need be, but I’m hoping that forex will turn into my full time day job. Also seriously considering a corrections officer at the local prison.
I’m 25 and my old man went on and on about forex ever since i was in high school because he dealt with imports/exports. I always thought you needed large amounts of capital to be a trader, fast track 10 years with the power of internet and some self education, I’m taking a genuine interest in forex and hope to go live very soon.
I’m 28 about to be 29. I built a successful business from home in the past 5 years. I become disturbed at others in business with me who were making great money but had no idea how to invest it. I really want to help and teach others how to invest their money. I have some real estate experience but I prefer forex mainly because it’s easier to teach to others. Everyone deals with the same global market instead of trying to learn and teach specifics on various local markets.
I don’t want to be like so many others I know who are paying off debt and cash rich but inflation is eating them up. I am having fun with forex and success with it as well.
I’m 31 going on 32 in Nov. I was under the impression that trading was impossible for a guy lacking capital like myself but a friend of mine informed me about a mini-lot at 100$,so I started with that at the end of FEB.
Lost it in a matter of hours
But I’ve hit the books since then and gathered a ton of info in the last few months. IT’s even starting to pay off a little bit, my hundred has become another one and so on…
Still have a ton to learn, so far i’m really enjoying it.
