I think, if you’re new to this game, this is not even a secondary question. The first question is, can forex be profitable? The second is, how?
The first answer is Yes. The second is more complicated obviously but demands at the least an objective chart-based strategy with simple to follow rules (and the discipline to follow them) and a strong effort to manage losses.

That is why it would be better to avoid planning future profits and looking for the ways to spend it. First of all, it may take a lot of time to become consistently profitable. Even when you are trading for several years, profit is not guaranteed due to the reasons listed above.
Of course, the potential of the market is huge. This is the only profession with almost any borders in making profit. You have no clients, as in any other business, you do not need to find and serve them. Your profit depends exclusively on your trading performance. At the same time, all this requres huge work to be made, from the learning of basic concepts and the development of the strategy to trade execution. Only those who would be able to make efforts and spend many hours will have a chance to succeed.
So, the answer is yes, forex it profitable, but it is impossible to pre-define how exactly you will earn. Your first goal should be not the profit, but experience and consistency.
