I did it but

Anyhow I have managed to run backrest on mt4 however there are two by default EA moving average and macd, can anyone please tell me how I upload my own strategy/EA which i have developed and run as a beck test many thanks

do you want to upload it here, or do you have problems with running a backtest on a EA you have coded?

If you want to upload it here, you need to add it to a zip archive or similar, check out winrar or winzip…

Thanks for reply the thing is, I got some from net which I want to run as a backtest, currently there are only two options which is MACD and Moveing avarage,

Okay? feels like half your message is missing, what is the problem?

sorry for confusion,I will clear again now step by step:------------once you start backtest by clicking ->view -> stratagy tester and a new window appears on the bottom of mt4. main issue is start here/////////// first option u see expert advisor and whwen u scroll that down u get only two EA MACD and Moving Average, but I want use my own EA/stratagy how to I load them on mt4 so I can backtest. many thanks for ur reply

Oh, you have to have the EA you downloaded in your metatrader 4\experts folder(probably in c:\program files\metatrader4\experts

after you have put your ea in the correct folder, you probably have to restart mt4 to be able to find them

PS, if you open the MetaQuotes language editor(press F4 in mt4) and open your ea there, and the compile it(if your ea is source code…), then in this window there is a button to go back to terminal, press that, and you should be able to find your ea in the dropdown list

Billion thanks Richard87 as u said i did and it worked :53: now can u pls tell me where do i get the accurate data for backtesting my broker is exness and when i tried to get data from alpari i do not see any data i even downloaded mt4 from alpari and open demo account but as soon as i start backtest with my own EA it got hangged.

Hi, to get accurate data I just used Oanda

change the bar history settings to 2147483647(max) in Options (Ctrl+o) and select Charts

Then go to History Center(F2) and double click your currency and then choose the 1m timeframe and just click download

I have read other people suggested deleting the old history first, so you get a clean set, but I didnt bother, and get a 90% on history on my tester  Oanda gives you data from 2001 to today…

Good luck
