I was Stopped Out

Good day.

I had a Sell Position of GBPNZD open overnight yesterday. This morning I find that I was stopped out. The market did not reach My Stop Loss line but I was stopped out at 23h59 EET, it was at least 244 points below. I lost from the subsequent Bearish Rally worth at least 3282 Points. Is this normal? Please help.

I see this price gapping lower at about 2200 UK time, from appr. 1.79420 to 1.76524, so being stopped on a short from higher above is highly suspicious. So, what sort of account do you have? - binary by any chance?
Was this a margin issue caused by other positions?
What was the spread on this pair from your broker through the night?
Have you checked the stop was correctly entered?

Hello Rhulz,

I was stopped out pretty badly a few times when I first started trading. I even switched brokers because I no longer trusted the broker I was trading through. Long story short, I didn’t know the trading platform as well as I thought I did. The manner in which I was placing my orders was allowing them to stop out a lot faster than I intended. Is it possible that you’re making an error when placing your orders/stops?

Respectfully,
Brassman

Mmmm better don’t open a position over night without monitoring.
