If a currency pair is in consolidation mode, is it still worth trading?

a lot of people say trend trading is the way to go but is there opportunity still in trading pairs that are consolidating like eurusd now?

Some traders are good at range trading, so consolidation can be good for them - though not all consolidation moves form the best ranges. Others like to run with price movement which means its better to wait for a strong and consistent trend after consolidation. Others are good at spotting breakouts and jumping into them as price leaves consolidation, whether it becomes a trend or not. Its worth demo trading different styles until you find one that’s comfortable for your own mentality.

if range trading and pair is consolidating, pips won will be small no? do they put more money in trades even with smaller pips?

It depends on the strategy but many traders will use a fixed position size so that their money risked per trade is always the same percentage of their account capital. They achieve this in different market conditions by adjusting the amount of risked money per pip.

i understand now. thank you.

Some pairs might be ranging on the daily time frame for weeks, months, though still alot of pips maybe made between support/ resistance over a the day
