Hello there. I’m Malcolm.
I’ve been involved with stocks and shares for ages. Well, the last couple of years for sure and then a massive gap for lots of years doing nothing and then before that I was heavily involved for a number of years. Even though I came out of the stocks and shares ‘experience’ with an overall profit, I didn’t like it.
The biggest problem that one person could really bork a company’s price overnight. For example, I held shares in HOME (who own Argos) and because someone declared that they messed up their IT so that they were going to have a rotten Christmas their shares tanked. It happens all the time in the stock market; the rumours kill what little chance the small investor has and, even though I got out before the recent fall (and I still think the FTSE will fall to 5500 eventually) I just got fed up with it. And it seemed to me that for the same think to happen in Forex would be something colossally stupid such as Angela Merkel declaring war on North Korea.
I came to forex because I was researching the Ichimoku for the stock market and by making a few tweaks I came up with a profitable system. Even so it was a pain dealing with the brokers that took a chunk out, the wretched stamp duty in the UK and so on and then another chunk when one sold the stock, even if one made a loss…
Also I was getting dissatisfied with my stock market data feed people so I finally called it a day and looked for forex sites and after seeing a couple I landed here and I am most of the way through the Baby Pips School which is good stuff. Some of it I don’t agree with (you’ll never catch me using a scholastic) but most of it is impressive stuff of incredible value.
I’ve read, and re-read, the Naked Forex book but didn’t like the site behind the author and so I ended up here and I expect that in a short time I will be joining the full course. I am doing alright with small micro lot trades on forex (using the daily chart only: anything shorter is far too racy for me) but I want to push my learning more.
When I am not doing forex studying and am in front of a computer I am supposed to be looking after my thing: horse racing. I produce ratings for the UK and Irish racing and, despite my best efforts, they are well received by the members. And this is what I do for a living.
Where do I do this? Well, the title may give a clue. My wife, the dog Gnasher and myself live on a motorhome. We told the previous landlord of our North Welsh cottage to stuff the keys up his upper class arse, shoved everything into storage (I couldn’t get a drumkit on here, alas), got a wifi dongle thing and hit the road going all over the UK. Today we’re in Cornwall and will be for a month, then off to Puzzlewood to visit my chum who owns it, then Sheffield for Christmas and then North to Scotland in the New Year. And if my wife ever finds her passport then it’s Belgium (I used to live in Antwerp which is easily the best city in the world to live) and then up to visit friends in Norway.
If anyone wishes to follow our travel blog we can be found by hunting for sixofswords
And that’s it. A bit too wordy, but the alternative was for me to actually write some code for the racing and the hangover is just a little bit too severe at the moment.
So, hello all.
