My trading system says strictly no high impact news events. Today is independence day, all day, high impact, on the babypips calendar. Am I trying to delude myself into thinking I might be able to trade today? What kind of effect does independence day usually have?

Once London closes, not much action. Maybe not much action all day.
I wouldn’t say don’t trade today for that reason, but the market is looking flat so wouldn’t be looking to day trade today.
Rule of thumb. If america isnt trading you can easily take a day off.
Yeh. That’s very sound advice. At least for day trading. Gives me a pain though. It screws up the charts. And I don’t have the luxury of waiting around for these dudes to have their time off. And worse still: most will have taken tomorrow off as well so even when those news releases come out the moves will probably be exaggerated due to low liquidity and lack of participation. Oh well. It is what it is.
Aren’t most brokers closed today to begin with?
Brokers are open. As always. All the US exchanges are closed though. Has not affected most here I’m sure. Sure affects me though. But: nearly over thank goodness.
