Hey there, I am writing a paper for my school and have been told it is lacking in research and effort apparently. oh well.
To broaden my information and to backup some of my statements, would anyone please offer up any knowledge on very complex calculations that anyone from any field has offered up and is still used today.
For example the moving average calculation isn’t straightforward nor is it difficult.
Moving averages are used by almost all traders, and there are different types. It might be worth exploring some of the major types - Simple, Exponential, etc. MACD is also well used - Moving Average Convergence Divergence. This illustrates the difference between two MA’s of different period. Momentum indicators are interesting. Fibonacci is a classic subject worthy of research with wider application than just trading.
But most traders use these things as calculated by the PC and converted into a visual presentation, few traders do complex arithmetic. In fact some don’t understand decimals and quite a few struggle with percentages…
Thanks for the reply (Can always count on you), I will certainly look into the findings of the Fibonacci calculations (trading related). I am aware clicking on indicators on any chart will do all the work for you however I needed to show examples where mathematicians had spent a long time finding their calculations.
Writing this I have thought of another one: ichimoku kinko hyo
