Introduction - New to trading

Hello fellow baby pipslers!

My name is Annette. I live in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada/
Ok, I don’t know if that’s a legit word. If it ain’t, well, I just made one up then…

I am pretty new to trading. I am just learning some of the basics by taking a course online with Shaw Academy but they are kind of expensive and want to keep you buying stuff. The hard sell is seriously getting on my nerves. I have an account with Questrade and bought stocks a few years back. I made some very bad moves because I had no idea what I was doing. Lost 5000 CAD.

Now that I have more time on my hands – I’m a school bus driver now – I really want to learn how to trade and invest properly. I’m very well educated – B.Sc. in Microbiology and a B.A. in Linguistics and Archaeology – so I want to approach this like I would approach a problem in science, i.e. do research and learn how to analyze charts, etc. It’s too bad I didn’t do this before I lost so much damn money on the stock market.

My dream is to make enough money trading that I don’t have to worry about money too much so that I can teach again which is what I love. I like my freedom and lots of variety in my life. Hopefully trading will allow me to live my dream life.

And I know that this will take some serious work. It’s no different than doing a degree at university. Hard work and perseverance are required.

That’s all for now folks!

Toodles!

AGS

Hello Annette

That’s the best attitude to have. Trading is like no other uni degree. You have to study and learn and it takes about the same time.

There are some on this site may say otherwise but when you seriously look at who the big players in the market are the traders there have degrees in finance investing, mathematics macro economics accounting etc. So they are well educated and some of the smartest minds on the planet.

So you will be competing with some serious players.

Good luck in your journey.

Cheers

Hi Blackduck,

Thanks for the good wishes. The fact that there are such smart people here is somewhat intimidating. I guess time will tell whether I can measure up, lol.

A lot of this “playing” has to do with keeping your emotions in check. So, I will try to be careful that way.

I’ll see you around!

Annette

Ha Ha Ha yes I say there are a few. A lot might be an exaggeration. However there is nothing to be intimidated about. We all started at the same place you have started from and there are those of us only too happy to try and help.

Cheers

All of us have been beginners at some point of time. It’s your constant practice and zeal to do something that makes all the difference.

Welcome to the community! The best thing you can do to learn and improve over time is keep learning.
