On May 16 of this year, Berenberg Bank warned that Deutsche Bank’s woes may be “insurmountable,” noting that DB is more than 40 times leveraged — 129% of the leverage ratio that brought down Lehman Brothers. Near the peak, the Lehman Brothers leverage ratio was 31 times.”
