Like doesn’t show up in Google Chrome.

Hi there!

Do you mean the option to like a post? Or that it shows that a post has been liked?

I’m also using Chrome and both options seem to be working fine for me.

Hmmm, purplepatchforex,

I’m running Chrome 13.0.782.112 m on Windows 7 with no problem. I’ve confirmed that others are seeing “Like” in Chrome as well. It’s a question I have to ask, but have you updated to the most recent release? What operating system are you running?

Thanks and I hope we get you up and running!

I’m on Linux, I like to be different, I’m probably the only one, it is the option to ‘Like’ a post, when I hover over the area it comes up.

there are webpages that Chrome will not handle correctly, it’s also a memory hog.

Isn’t that normal? I only see the “Like” word when I place my mouse within a post, otherwise I don’t see it on every post at the same time, or if my mouse isn’t on any particular post as in when it’s off in the page margins somewhere, or if it’s on one of my own posts…apparently I can’t like my own posts  I’m using Firefox at home, and IE at work…and it behaves the same on both.

That’s exactly it!

But I’m sure there was a problem when I did my original posting, but it could well have been a Chrome issue, I tried it on others and it came up, but it just wouldn’t on Chrome I’m sure of it, Oh well I guess we’ll never know.

That’s the right behavior, mouse-over and “Like” appears.

I’m having the same issues with firefox, some days I can, some I can’t. Just one of those things I spose :19:

I just don’t understand why not just have it there all the time like ‘reply’, it doesn’t make any sense to me to make it appear on hover, it’s just makes something nice and simple quite confusing.

Greetings purplepatchforex,

Many of the features that are released in our forum are the work of the forum software vendor, VBulletin, and not our internal development team. The “Like” feature is actually not a built-in feature of the forum software, but an add-on created by a completely different 3rd party. They control all access and changes to it. Many of the forum features are like that. It would make complete sense to have “Like” show all the time, but right now, that’s not an option available to us. We could try some custom programming on our end to get around the limitations of the add-on software, but we’ve learned that it (“Like” feature is always on) will be released in the future by that 3rd party. Once it’s available, we’ll look at adding it to our forum. Thanks for your feedback!

I also think so.

This is the correct behavior. “Like” only appears when mousing over that area of the post. Once your cursor leaves that area, “Like” disappears. This has been tested in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. Thanks!

I’ve got used to it now, and it’s fine, however it’s not good practice in any software to put unnecessary add ons that have the potential to confuse or not to work.

We totally agree, Purplepatchforex. But any new feature has the potential to confuse or not work. And whether a feature is unnecessary ultimately boils down to personal preference. We’ll always have members taking opposite opinions.

Feature adoption can be helped by testing, education and feedback. That’s where the community comes in and where we listen. And that’s what this forum is all about. This thread is a great example of that.

We’re in a holding pattern at the moment while we wait for changes to the “Like” feature from its developer. Thanks for your patience and your feedback.
