I’ve been testing / developing an open source expert advisor for about a month called SnowRoller. I’m not sure if I can post a link because I just joined but it should be easy to find. It isn’t one of these EAs that really hit it big and then blow out in a death trade a month later. Those systems typically are some variation of a grid method and in the end tend to martingale themselves to death. They look good but when you trade them they toast your account in the end due to averaging down losses.
The premise of SnowRoller is to take the other side of the equation, and trade as an anti-grid, increasing size as positions go more into profits rather than averaging down and being susceptible to the death trade. The tradeoff is that if you trade an anti-grid, you get a slow but steady decrease in the balance, and then get a sudden pop of equity that takes the account to a new high level. I’m still testing and working out the kinks on the expert advisor and am always open to learn more.
No EA will ever match all market conditions. The markets change in their nature on a regular basis, so while one strategy will work for a while and then empty an account, this is not the fault of the strategy. It is the fault of the person running the EA who may think that he/she does not need to learn how to trade properly as perhaps an EA can do it for them. Then when disaster strikes it is the EA’s fault :-).
There are no short cuts to successful trading. None at all. 95% of people fail because it takes sometimes years of hard work and learning. Then a person may be in a position to better use an EA if it partly automates some of the decision making.
I love forex morning trade but it is not free.
JK,
Do you run all of your EA’s with the same broker or do you use different ones? Also, is it okay to run two different EA’s in the same instance of MT4 but on different pairs?
Thanks,
NMowatt
JK
Do you have some favorite currency pare to use this EA?
Borut
Interesting conversation about EAs. The thing is that I am trading forex on Zulutrade’ s platform and don’ t think that I could add one… In fact my Signal Providers play the role of an EA. Could be that some of them use EAs for sending their signals…cause I have noticed they don’ t trading the news.
Since they use an MT4 platform it is possible.
Any publicly available EA (particularly for free) will fail in the long run. It can be good at first, but the market will adapt. Because if the smart guys know about such an EA they will use it and then make it worse. This is the case, because there is the rule that the majority can’t ever be rich. To have profits for one, others have to lose.
If you want a successful EA which is profitable in the long run, you better would try to code your own and keep the system confidential. This is not particularly a specific EA issue. EVERY confidential profitable system would become very likely a losing system if it becomes publicly available. Stay away from those. Do your due diligence and create your own system/EA. Wall street never sleeps. There are thousands of ppl just looking with hawkish eyes for profitable systems. They have more money than most others and faster internet connections. If they get aware of a system, they place the trade some milliseconds before your trade and whats the result is that you get gaps. Resulting in too expensive entries. The more ppl use your same system, the bigger the gap would be. Until the time when the gap gives you no chance anymore to enter the trade before the exit rule comes in play. Or you may still have winning trades, but they don’t outperform your losing trades, because the gaps will minimize the profits.
As I am not so experienced in forex and don’t have much time to get deep involved in it I follow some Signal Providers in Zulutrade. For me it is important to follow a SP who uses Stop and Limit. It shows me that they open a position after thinking and money calculation and not after a pray to get the price they want. I agree with you on keeping our strategy/Signal Providers for ourselves… in order to keep the profits in our accounts!
I totally agree with you regarding SL. Advanced search tool has helped me a lot with search & picking up good Sps.
Have you already used zulu’ s mobile application? I don’t have a smart phone but I have an ipad.
As summer time is about to start think it is a good idea to use their new ipad app.
Hi! If you are looking for good kind of EAs the you must try best4xrobots.com. It is providing the world’s best and latest EAs after testing.
Could we receive signals from our Zulutrade’ s signal providers and additionally from an EA? Should be set up in our broker’s Mt4?
Yes you can I have tryed those 2 without problems!
Thank you very much. Now I am thinking if I should open new account in AAAFX in order to trade with separated equities or to receive all signals in one account. Money management is not my strong point.
Hi Scottie, since you a senior, may know how to advice…looking for a simple EA based on the crossing of two EMA as entry, then close and revert in the next following crossing (this only safety and early entry, as plan to do exits manually based on other indicators), any idea where can I find this EA or help to built one? Thanks in advance, Max
I believe is more convenient to have all in one account, unless we talk for more than
30.000$ equity
I’ve had limited success with FAP Turbo Trading Robot. I’ve had to tweak the settings a bit, only with the help of their support staff, but it’s very encouraging so far. I currently run it with a small live account and demo account of $45k. It’s had some wild swings of late, but the market has truely been volatile with Greece and IMF people in jail and, and… I think that when all of this somewhat settles down, it’ll show some true gains. I’ll try to keep you posted if interested.
