Looking for Trade Setups

When looking at a specific pair and adding drawings I find that the trade I’m looking for isn’t quite where I want it yet, so I wait. My issue is I miss it often. Are there softwares or alerts to help me get in when I would like to rather than just constantly checking? 6I’m sure I miss trades just because I haven’t mastered reading a chart and I just don’t see the set up, but when I find one I often times miss it because I just wait a little long. I trade the 4h / 1d charts so I try to give it reasonable time.

Take a look at thepatternsite.com. I don’t mean that you should blindly switch to using the chart patterns you find there (though they are well described) but you might follow the format Bulkowski uses.

Each pattern has an overview, performance statistics, identification guidelines, trading tips, an actual example and references to similar patterns. Highly methodical, factually based.

In your case, I wonder if identification guidelines might be a good starting point. Accept that if you have 10 identification guidelines for your set-up, you might need to get in on only 9 or 8 or even 7.

In trading if something looks a lot like something else, it will probably behave a lot like it too. We’re working in an art not a forensic science.

Hello @cmatthews7664

Regardless of the missed potential trade setups, i think you have the right approach.

If you miss a trade opportunity just wait a while because I guarantee you another one is just around the corner.

Being on the sideline is better than being in a position that you havent had the time to fully analyze prior to entry.

It takes time for the right setup to come along, the fact that you seem to be very “picky” when it comes to possible trade entries is a good thing.

I think you should continue to let the market come to you. Be patient.
