Hi, I am new to forex and still have a lot to learn. I wanted to share my rather nasty experience with other new traders in the hope that they do not follow on the same path.
A few weeks ago my trading account started behaving strangely. Thankfully I still only have a micro account with a few hundred dollars in it. I run a couple of EAs (better not mention which ones but I am sure you can guess) and also play around with some manual trading (mostly swing trading). Anyway, I know what I am trading and I know what pairs the EAs are trading, but I started to notice my account balance was changing. It was going a little up and down. I didn’t think anything of it at first. I just assumed it was the EAs trading. But then I looked at my Account History and OMG - there where trades that I had NOT placed on currencies that my EAs are not trading on. The first thing I did was ask my wife (very gently) what she had been doing with my metatrader account. She promised that she had not touched it. So I did some research. While I am a newbie forex trader I am a pretty experienced computer user. I narrowed the suspicious traders down and found a time and date when they had started. Guess what - those trades had started at the same time I had downloaded that free version of Fap Turbo 51. What!!! Yes… suspicious trades that I and none of my EAs had been placing where happening after I installed Fap Turbo 51. I know that this robot was a scam (thank Donnafx for letting us all know) but I saw I could download it for free anyway on a forum so I thought I would give it a go. I never actually put the EA on a chart, just installed it. Anyway the first thing I did was to check to see if anyone else had this issue and I couldn’t see that anyone did. So I ran some checks on my computer to see if i could find anything wrong. Low and behold 0 viruses found on my clean PC. SO i deleted any files (DLL and EX4) from the FapTurbo 51 and now the bogus trades have stopped.
I wanted to make people aware that I think there are scams out there that are trying to place fake trades and wreck your forex trading. Please keep an eye on your trading account and the account history. Find any suspicious trades that you don’t recognise - post the details here and we can help each other collect a list of threats.
