How can I get more trading currencies in MetaTrader? I just can find the regular ones that come with the program. Is there a possibility to get more different currencies?

Currency pairs offered is nothing to do with Metatrader which is simply a charting package. It depends which broker you are using and if not obviously offered by them you need to contact them to see if they will offer it for you or change brokers or trade it via a combination of pairs

Most of the time not all the pairs show up in the Symbol window, if you right click in the Market Watch window and choose Symbols you can see all the pairs that broker offers.
I think this is what you are asking.

It seems that MT comes default with about 11 pairs showing. So to get the rest that your broker offers you need to have the “MARKET WATCH” window open, then RIGHT CLICK and select “SHOW ALL”. Then when you go into “FILE/NEW CHART/FOREX” you should see all that you have available.

As people mentioned, it has nothing to do with MetaTrader. It has to do with what that particular broker/firm chose to offer to their clients. What you see is what your broker/firm is offering. It has nothing to do with MetaTrader.

It actually does in a way. After installing MT, it only “SHOWS” 11 pairs. You have to “SHOW ALL” and then it will show more pairs if there are any. I’ve done this twice with 2 different demo accounts and it went from showing 11 pairs to 18 pairs.

This tip is only focused on using the software to hide/show your favourite pairs and MT defaults to how many it initially shows so if there are more, then this is the way to find out.

Now there are many, many other crosses that may or may not be “offered by the broker” and I agree that’s when it has nothing to do with MT.

Quite true. There are tons of currency options but for me it is overwhelming. I am happy with the top 4 or 5.

Yes, but that wasn’t the question and not the main issue.

The issue here is that you will only see what your broker
is offering. And that is the issue addressed by the original
question.

So, it has nothing to do with MT4 and all to do with the broker
you have chosen.

How can I get different time frame charts on MT4? Like say a 2H

You can make almost any time frame you want. Here are some quick instructions.
First put the Period_Converter.mq4 file in the experts\indicator folder

  1. Open H1 chart.
  2. Attach to chart ‘Period_converter_opt.mq4’ MQL4 file from ‘Custom Indicator’ folder of ‘Navigator’ window.
  3. On ‘Common’ tab check ‘Allow DLL imports’ checkbox.
  4. On ‘Inputs’ properties tab please set ‘PeriodMultiplier’ variable value to 2 (you’ll get H1*2 = H2).
  5. Click OK.
  6. Open H2 chart in offline mode (‘File � Open Offline’). H2 chart will be updated real-time (by default) while H1 chart with attached ‘Period_converter_opt.mq4’
    running.

You can not close the H1 chart that was used to create the H2 chart.

Hi,

This converter is very good.
I was wondering if it is possible to change it so it will also be update the currency pair when I chenge the currency pair in the original chart.

Is there a way to change currency pair and get it to show it in all the chart windows you have open?

So if I have 1D, 4H and 1H charts open for 1 pair I can just select another pair and it changes all the open charts to show that pair instead?
