Hello all,
I am trying to figure out how to calculate pivots for Monday trading. I have a demo account on Alpari that gives me one set of data using a pivot point plugin (today pivot was at 1.3328, S1 at 1.3257, R1 at 1.3455), then my data on Interbank FX’s metatrader gives me 1.3361 as the pivot, 1.3347 as S1, 1.3378 as RI, etc, using the same exact Pivot plugin. Pivot farm supports Alpari’s data. Who is right?
Thanks!
What time does the daily candle end for Alpari? For IBFX, it’s a true GMT. If my understanding is correct, a new daily candle opens at 8PM NY time. It all depends on what you’re comfortable with. Actually, there’s an article I read on forex factory couple days ago regarding this matter. Different broker provides different pivot points. I think the author concluded with it’s all about support and resistance. Don’t rely on pivot points. Don’t know if this helps. Good luck.
I know that Alpari uses western European time for its charts so that the TA works a bit better (so they say). I believe all daily candles should start with 5 pm EST with FX, but many retail brokers will only make a market for you beginning at 6 pm Sunday. Anyway, I’m just going to take the standard pivot formulae and calculate that for Monday - easiest solution. And yes, I’ve noticed that FX responds better to round numbers and Fibos than the pivots.
not sure about pivots, need to look into em.
