I am wondering if there is a method/site/gizzmo to measure TOTAL PIP MOVEMENT in a given time frame. By total movement I mean this:
A pair is sitting at 95.45, let’s say. It then moves up to 95.46, then drops back to 95.45, then drops again to 95.44, and finally moves back to the original 95.45. It started at 95.45, and also ended at 95.45, but there were 4 pips of movement in this time frame. Thus, it was active, and not just sitting at 95.45 the whole time. Is there something that can relatively quickly indicate this info, and is there a specific name for this movement?
I know volume doesn’t sound like what you’re describing, but in the forex world there are no “shares” like in stocks, so we measure volume by the number of ticks a currency pair makes.
Most people trading based on volume like to use something called Volume Spread Analysis, or VSA. I don’t use it myself so can’t recommend anything specific, all I can do is tell you the name of what you’re looking for.
Ahhhhh, yes! Ticks would describe exactly what I mean!! Thanx Phil. Geez, now I feel somewhat doltish for not having seen what was right in front of me.
Took him that long to search all of google. I wonder if he made it all the way to the very last page of the internet…
ROFLMFAO!!! LOL!!!
By the way TalonD: you DO of course realise that with Tymen gone you and me are ‘top of the pops’ as far as the post count goes (by quite a fair margin)!!! MAN: that’s a lot of ‘BS’ that’s been posted (by me at least) over the years!!! LOL!!! Any idea on what happens at 3 000??? I sure hope there’s a prize or SOMETHING!!! LOL!!!
I hadn’t realized that. Yeah mostly BS from me too but finally I am making steady gains after all this time… probably just jinxed myself saying that. I think at 3,000 we turn into a pumpkin or spontaneusly combust or something? LOL
There used to be a guy named Don Adsit that had a website called the very last page of the internet. It was an interesting site. all kinds of weird science stuff.
