Moving into a demo account after months of practice and backtesting

So after completing the BP: SoP and backtesting several strategies hundreds of times, I think I’ve finally got my strategy in place and am ready to move onto the next stage in my path towards live trading.

I am starting by using the Cowabunga strategy by Pip Surfer and will be day trading (I like to manage my trades I’ve discovered and leaving them overnight causes me to wake up through the night wanting to check them).

If anyone has any recommendations or answers on the questions below that would be a huge help.

  1. I live in the UK so am in a prime position to catch most major market timezones in my trading day, but how do I manage my time effectively so I’m not just at my seat from 6 am to 5 pm?

  2. There is an indicator that simplifies my strategy and marks it onto both mt4 and Tradingview, am I being lazy or naive by using this? Or am I simply making my life easier and removing human error?

  3. Is there any value in seeking a mentor? Or does anyone know of any buddy systems? I’m going at this journey basically alone, except for the incredible support my partner is giving me, and it would be nice to have someone over my shoulder.

Thanks to any advice in advance and hope you are all well.

Excellent start, you are well ahead of nearly everyone out there that tries to do this (assuming everything you’ve laid out is authentic).

  1. Stop trying to box your strategy in. It needs to develop organically.
  2. If it works for you, then keep doing it.
  3. Yes. Having a second set of eyes on anything is valuable.

Haha I get why the authenticity disclaimer is on there! It is all true, but it’s been a long road, so I’m glad to be at this stage. I even did a free course provided by a company in the UK and they basically did a less in depth version of some of the SoP sections.

Can you please elaborate on what you mean by boxing my strategy in?

Don’t go into it with any expectations as to when you should trade, how, why etc etc. Just do it, every day, and your system will continue to develop naturally. You just can’t quit.

Ok, I appreciate that advice, I think that’s very much the stage I’m going through at the minute is feeling that it should all be going smoothly with all the planning and learning etc. But realising what I need is actual solid experience.

Thanks for all the help!
