I don’t know any other traders so would welcome some peer comments/advice.
I’d always been intersted in stocks and shares, but never made any money on them, mainly cos I am inpatient and waiting a year for my 4% was like watching paint dry.
I then bet on stocks crashing when covid hit by buying an inverse tracker and made £5.5K in one day, which I promptly lost in the ensuing week basically (in hind sight) due to gambling the market rather than trading it.
However, I was hooked, and that’s when I discovered forex trading. I did ok-ish on 6m of demo, then when I stopped loosing money I opened a real account. I lost 6.5K trading forex, but in my first year (after being one day from giving up) I slowly and steadily reduced my losses to £1,5K. I guess that was my learning curve.
I learned alot of lessons and so far 10 months into my second year of real trading i’ve slowly and consistently made a £25K profit on a £25K stake on a spreadbetting playform, thereby doubling my money. I consistently make £100 - £200 per day profit and have done for 18 months, ever since I stopped losing.
Is this usual? I can’t quite believe the rate of profit i’m making as, from reading through all the chats on various forums, these are the returns that professional traders make. I’m just a normal guy with a steady job doing this as a hobby. I’m no good at maths, I don’t know what an alogorithm is and I can just about turn on a computer. I don’t read the financial news unless it’s important enough to make a tabloid headline and I purely trade on price-action and technicals (I tried to read a company report back in the day but gave up half-way through the first page as I couldn’t understand any of it). I have, however, always had a wierd interest in numbers and have an an instinctive feel for estimation. Don’t know if that’s relevant.
Is this a normal story? I seem to be an outlier and don’t trade like everyone else trades. Are there any other successful or professional traders out there who would like to comment? No spam/trolling/stealth-trolling please! Be kind!
