New Trader from Southern California

Hello!

Last year around this time, I began learning about Forex. I watched a video course that taught the basics along with chart pattern strategies with indicators as confirmation. Since then, I have read books, listened to audio books and watched youtube videos on the subject regularly.

I have had all of the typical psychological pitfalls of revenge trading and impulse trading. I am currently net negative in my trading returns.

I just finished Mark Douglas’ Trading in the Zone and I am now working on implementing his teachings.

I am here to learn from the experiences of others.

I am from Los Angeles. I am also interested in online marketing, options, crypto and futures.

Welcome in BP community

I would recommend Trading for a Living by A. Elder; the topics are outdated, yet can be extrapolated into very useful concepts nowadays. Simply understanding how trading used to be can be a help, and it was for me; the psychology is all there.

Patience is a vice disguised as a virtue.

remember: Don’t just mimic what they do, since you’re not them, you won’t get the same results :stuck_out_tongue:
Find your own system. Even if it takes learning from everyone.

Based on your recommendation, I just finished listening to the audiobook version of Trading for a Living on Youtube. It was very good. It pairs nicely with Trading in the Zone.

“Patience is a vice disguised as a virtue.” is an interesting phrase.

I truly believe that reading chart patterns are an important part of our forex trading careers. We should learn to read at least one type of chart pattern. And so, I learnt the candlestick pattern and I am good to go with my technical indicators.
