Newbie Starting out

Hello there, my names Alan and I’m totally new to all forex. I have messed around with mt4 for a few months so i’m still trying to get to grips with everything. First of all i hope to pick up the FX lingo so i can pickup things easier.
My plan is to pick up most of the terms and be reading charts a lot better (as i just cant see the patterns yet) in the few months so i can practice trading in my demo account. Full time worker, Full time dad and will b putting my free time into fx. I wish to be trading successfully by next year at some point and to build upon my acc from there. hope by 3-4 years this can be a way forward for a brighter future for me and my family.

thanks for reading and i hope to speak to you’se soon, im sure there will be many questons
Regards

Welcome. Good mindset which will keep you grounded. I would recommend you choose a broker who is tier one regulated and who offers a MT5 platform both live and demo accounts - which has more set up options and is a newer version of MT4.

This great education site will provide all you currently need to begin your long journey to eventual success. Aim to become a competent trader who trades FX properly and proficiently. Financial reward will follow, do NOT chase it.

Best of luck.

I had a nosey around the site last night, lots of intel to get to grips with. Yeah i aim to try ‘little and often’ trades to get the ball rolling and hope it continues :+1:

Thank you, i had a look last night and started a few :+1::+1:

Thanks man, trying to look at it from a realistic point of view … when i was an apprentice in my trade it took time to get where i am.
Putting the time in is key just now thanks again

Thanks mate…yep everyday is a school day, long road ahead but the rewards will b worth it. Cheers :+1:

I definitely agree with the others. You’re off to a good start with your realistic mindset and expectations. Even if you have so much in your hands, I think a few hours per day would really help you towards that goal you have in 3 to 4 years. As for the lingo, a lot of experienced traders here interact with each other and you could just feel free to jump in on conversations that interest you.

busy busy day today, had some reading on my lunch break now will try get an hour in tonyt before bed :+1:

I use IC markets, FP markets and Pepperstone for MT4 & MT5. They are all reputable brokers. For other reputable brokers with differing platform styles try TD365, CMC, IG, & XTB. See what suits you.

I would not recommend eTORO, another regulated broker because their spreads are among the highest in the market, despite their attractive marketing hype.

Hi,
I was recommended by my mentor to use IG Index and I’ve been using that so far this year and it has been good…

I’ve had good experiences with IC Markets, Etoro, CedarFX, Tickmill and Oanda.
It depends on which country you are based, your trading style, instruments etc though
