I think its more common around this site to not trade the news - at least thats the impression i got anyway… I believe the expression is ‘buy the rumour, sell the news’
There are some traders that don’t even look at the news - i prefer this approach but just keep in mind when there are news events to be aware of any wide spreads that may occur… I believe you can see most of what you need to see from your charts, news is usually just an excuse to see a push in price in a pre-determined direction…
I read one news report that tells me everything that happen during the yesterdays trading session and whats happening today.
At the beginning of your trading news doesn’t really matter until you get good. At the beginning it will just add more stimulus fro your brain to interpret and you will just get analysis paralysis.
The news i read allows to be be in sync with the market more easily.
I think if you have a decent enough trading platform, they would provide a news release/analysis service. Best piece of advice I could offer is just echoeing what the others have said ie. Know what big news releases are due out each day by checking Economic Calendar and just plain stay out of the way until the dust settles, certainly at your stage of your trading career anyway.
There will always be the odd surprise, or snap news release here and there, but as Master Tang has already told you, if your Lot sizes are sane, and by that Tang means you haven’t risked far too much on ANY one trade, then these “surprise” news releases shouldn’t bother your account too much.
Best not to put too much faith in what you here on Bloomberg, or similar news channels. I’ve been there and done that. Just gives you some-one else to blame when it all goes wrong. I watch Bloomberg purely to keep an eye on what direction the indexes, and index futures are going. These can give you a general idea of how the market is feeling and what direction the dollar may go for the day. But I watch it with the sound turned down, I find that I don’t like Betty Lui as much when I can hear her speak !! LOL,.
the best you can do with the news is react to it as quick as possible - without expense you’ll never get a Bloomberg style up to the minute feed but many sites provide news announcement dates and times, last values and expect for things like GDP and job numbers.
As far as proper news trading I only know of Dukascopy which allows u trade news directly in your code by sending news alerts to the system for you to use in your script - this how Bloomberg works also. To be honest though, the best strategy for most traders is to stand aside during announcement periods and not even worry about the two minutes of the entire trading period where the news event puts your capital at risk.
for starters, just like what most of the guys suggest avoid the news, its ok to read it and study whats happening with it and how the market reacts to it, but it might cost you since during these times the market can go in 180 degree direction
but some of the places i like checking out for news feed are bloomberg and forexfactory, and best of luck
I shall certainly take heed! Though keeping on top of the news and report releases to get a feel for the market sentiment for the day definitely appears to be a good way of conducting trading!
Bloomberg is the best source of news and Information which gives the traders the ability to make trades based on the real time news and analysis from the experts.
