Hello,
My name is Carlo and I am from the Philippines. I’ve been trading FOREX for 3 weeks and I lost 50% of my deposit. I signed up here to learn and perhaps help other people when I already have something to return to the community soon.
Thanks for this great forum!
Carlo
Greetings Carlo and welcome to the forums! 50% loss? Yikes! Like the School of Pipsology says, I hope that was money you could afford to lose. There’s no time minimum before going on to trade live to risk your hard earned money, but there is the requirement to have a well tested strategy and adjustment plans that you know forwards and backwards in different trading environments, as well as risk management plans to protect your capital. For most, that’s a learning curve that takes a long while, which means practicing on demo is a good idea for now. Be patient and stay focused bud!
Yes I started demo account and I had played with it for quite some time. Around 6 months and I was successful with it so I decided to go for live account and I lost money. Live and demo are a lot different.
Lesson Learned: My emotion is killing me. Well, everyday I am learning a lot of things and I am getting better.
Yes I am fine losing 100% of my deposit. That initial deposit is for testing purposes. I don’t mind losing it for as long as I can learn something.
Next week would be a very exciting week for me. I have my strategy set and I adjusted my trading timeframe from 30mins to daily. I actually made 80 pips last Friday with the strategy that I found here so I will keep working on it. Very excited. My target is to regain my 50% loss.
Glad to hear that you’re working on a new strategy. Have you forward or backtested it yet? If so, what kind of expectancy numbers did you get and how are you setting the risk per trade? Looking forward to learning more about what you’re doing
6 months? Wish i did that before starting. I opened up an account a few days ago and dived straight in the deep end and its becoming obviously very quickly i have no idea what i am doing.
