Out of curiosity

How many people who actively trade currency also trade in stocks?

Do you have time to do both?

And besides following the general trend of the stocks market, does the daily up’s and down’s of stocks affect currency all that much?

I dont have time for both, actually I dont have too much time for Fx, I know is a great market, but Forex is not my life style, so I have another job and in my house I can trade, and of course, my broker can do it for me.

Well not with stock but I once tried to do both currencies and options, and boy it was hard. Not the fact that I had to do different type of analysis but the time that I spent in front of the computer. I reached a point where I was totally absorbed by the market, I was a zombie just willing to eat forex hehehehe.

Yes. i do have time to trade both and both Fx,futures, bonds and equities are intertwined.Sometimes they are correlated and sometimes they don’t.That’s why i keep telling people to sturdy the financial markets/system instead of charts and just FX.The market’s moves are based on 50% fundamentals,35% news and the rest are based on charts.

while very active in forex, i maintain a portfolio of equities that can be considered more “investments” than trades and its bloody well hard to even keep up with that — it would be a rare and exceptionally multi faceted trader who could keep up with actually TRADING both, IMO simply because it would take “multitasking” to an unbelieveable level of strain !

It could be done, and my hat would be off to any trader who could successfully do it and while im not a Christian, one can understand well the teachings of their head guy when he stated that “man cannot serve two masters. . . .”

“possible” but highly “improbable”

Well if u try to daytrade both FX and stocks at the sametime then off course it’s gonna be hard.

never did i state anything concerning daytrading, but made a simple statement — if you can do it, then hats off to ya and enjoy, but my portfolio consists of 24 stocks and in and of itself, is difficult to simply “keep current” — the FX is the breadwinner and what pays the bills and while im a VERY conservative FX trader, usually trading only one or two pairs a day, i trade them in every timeframe possible, both up and down ---- that sure dont leave much time to ride equities also, which move at approx the same times as FX.

Not that it cant be done, but if being done well, that person sure will suffer burnout pretty danged soon !

IMHO !

Within the great hall at Elfinore stands a wondrous coffer, precisely four cubits square and securely latched against the outside world. Inside that repository, shut away from impertinent eyes, abides many an intriquing trading secret garnered from around the world and over the ages !

As a child, i used to watch from the darkness as the secrets were debated and annotated by the elders. No one there held a single thought of my presence – BUT I KNOW WHERE THEY HID THE KEY !!

I’m kinda like you i use profits from FX for living and i trade the savings in stock options.I dont trade or hold a lot of position in either stocks or FX so that kinda make it easy on me.Options are normally held for a few days to weeks and once i hit my mininmum profits target from FX i sit on the sideline and watch how the crooks/wallstreet manipulate the entire markets.

“crooks and manipulators” — LOL

gotta love that statement ---- fortunately, if one has the experience in the markets, one can USE their very actions against them and steal their lunch !

Forex does what its “supposed to” because the banks ALWAYS know where they are going, and with enough experience its pretty simple to see what their plan is, which is why i use the LRC to show me where they be heading !

best to ya and dont let them fry your brain !!

I dont even know how to trade both, for me its hard. I want to know just one market, if some day I have time. But guys, some of you trade in both, can u tell us more about it, the strategy u use and platforms.

I don’t have a specific strategy in both Fx and stocks.I either buy or sell currencies/stocks based on my analysys.U know buy low, sell high! My biggest advice to you is OBSERVE the markets/economy and don’t try to come up with a perfect trading strategy to predict market movements. The markets are irrational and the only thing you can control is yourself and your money.

When it comes to stocks brokers, you don’t really pick 'em by platform but you pick 'em by how much $$ per share/trade.most of them have advance platform like Fx platform but they might charge you extra for it. You can take a look at Etrade,TD ameritrade, scottstrade and Charles schwab…etc

Hi there everyone, I would like ask if there are like any special brokers for stocks. I’m’ very interested on this theme and would like to get started on the stocks subject. So, is there like any special type of brokers that handle stocks?

From my experiences, and that of many others, Ameritrade is right up there with 9.95 trades (not the absolute cheapest, but certainly within reason for the services, charting and extras they provide)

Ive used them for seven years now, and have absolutely no complaints with service, reliability or executions.

speaking of executions, remember you are dealing exclusively with market makers and specialists, and they are even more dedicated to making money for themselves than are the brokers we deal with here on forex — nothing that cant be learned and worked with, but they dont give you a free ride till you know how to deal with them !

REMEMBER YOUR LIMIT ORDERS and yee shall remain alive !

enjoy and trade well
