Many might say a trader should only be reactionary, and I agree, but only in part. I would pose this question …if you’re truly reactionary only trader…ie reacting “mindlessly” to price behaviour…how do you justify placing a target that you’re shooting for…or even a stoploss?? Placing a target suggests foresight. I would say i am 75% reactionary …and 25% anticipatory. I’m looking ahead. Trying to figure out where they might be driving price 5 min…15mins…and hour from now? Oh they do try to cover their tracks, and they are good at it but they do leave tracks in a snowstorm! A broken branch here, a footprint there…in a most subtle way they’ll telegraph their intentions…often…know what to look for. their “dark pools” and HFT… they are ELEPHANTS still…and can’t walk an elephant down mainstreet unoticed no matter how well you dress him up.
