ok today i just open my account with fxcm I’m really excited but was wondering what does every body think about fxcm? and if it was a good idea. my second question is they said they dont use Dealing Desk execution they told me that people get rip off because of deal desk execution is that true? please help I’m just a little curious to know if i made a good move
Heres a bit of advice
You may not see it, but already your showing the characteristics of a losing trader. If your already jumping the boat before you’ve done your research, how do you think you will fare in trading? Try jumping the boat on a trade you weren’t even sure of and see what happens to your equity - you would crap your pants!
Basically, you don’t shoot the gun and ask questions later BPE. That’s how i know you have a long ways ahead of ya.
Secondly, there are some dealer desk brokers who CLAIM to be non-dealer desk…and yet, really are. It’s a marketing ploy. most dealing desk brokers KNOW that advertising “we are dealer desk” is a bad move on their part. They can make these claims i believe on the basis that these dealer desks aren’t the dealing desk of the past so many traders are fond with. They are more “legit” so to speak, and aren’t as likely to trade against you.
That is THERE definition of “non-dealer desk”.
Heres a tip: If they aren’t ECN (ECNS typically take small commisions, very little to no spread at all, put your orders directly in the interbank market, etc), I can asure you that there is some form of “dealer desk” involved. FXCM being no exception.
And finally, to put you at ease, many of those traders who claim to be traded against, especially in this day and age, are just sore losers…no really. If you read a little deeper into their stories, you’ll find that many were just really bitter they lost the very last bit of margin they had left, lost a hefty sum in one stroke, or just want everybody to go on their guilt trip.
If you lose your shirt - chances are…it’s your damn fault.
i hope i’ve been of some help to you :),
CHEERS
hey thanks a lot seriously i know for a fact you right I’m starting to sound like a loser and I’m just thinking negative. i did my research and demo traded for some time till i felt comfortable i just thought dealer desk’s were when you call in to setup a trade over the phone, guess i skipped that chapter. well i feel good I’m just going to take it step by step and learn I’m not a sore loser and i know their is a lot of idiots out their that didn’t do their home work and just jump the gun. then when they lose all their money they get mad because they made a bad decision i feel good and I’m glad i made this decision win or lose either way i live to make my money back or double my profits in another trade. cheers
Hey biggestpipever … it is normal to have doubts when everything is so new … and it doesn’t mean you have a loser mentality
I am with FXCM, I researched a bunch of brokers, read bad things about all of them and finally decided on FXCM. Are they the best? I have no idea but so far so good and I do like their customer service.
I don’t show them my stops unless I cannot avoid it, usually if I have to leave the computer, I make sure all trades are closed. I’ve noticed that if it is at all possible, they will manage to reach a stop if you leave one visible. And I’ve heard they all do that.
The spreads are decent, I have never had a problem closing a trade, even near news and as mentioned above, the customer service is really very good … I have one person assigned to me and she takes really good care of me, with any questions or problems I have by email or phone.
I may move to an ECN when my account is larger, but for the moment I think FXCM is fine, so … you made a good choice! Pat yourself on the back … but tie your camel
I read way too many crap written about FXCM and InterbankFX as well as other well established and proven firms. Why? Probably because amateur traders got their fantasies bashed in by their lack of education, knowledge, and common sense. Stop asking around for people’s opinions on FX firms for one. It is utterly pointless. I also do stock options & still read bad stuff written about Charles Schwab, TDAmeritrade, and even Etrade. So, what’s the truth? There is one truth only; bad traders who got their dreams dashed, run around and blame brokers and firms. That’s the truth while professionals and knowledgeable traders continue to reap wins from the “dumb money” that continue to droll in to the game. Also, ECNs are highly overrated. All the talk of spreads also pointless. If you have knowledge, you will win no matter what and where. And most importantly, when you read horror stories of well established firms, ECNs or otherwise, get ready to laugh and really do laugh for they are all fairytales spewed by un-winning delusional traders who have all the time in the world to supposedly be expert traders yet spend over 12 hours per day in various forums. Please. It’s laughable. Their stories are pure fantasy. Yes, they traded against me, traded my account against my will and stole $100,000 from me. Ya, ok loser.
