Total beginner here, I found it strange when I closed my order I was supposed to lose 15 pips but i only lost 2 to 3 pips. how is it possible that the quote is so far off the actual market? It was jumping from 15 pips lost to 2-3 pips lost when i tried closing it out… (mt4 trader on android )
Not sure about the time your trading, the chart says 05:25, but your phone says 23:04, the server providing the data is 6 hours ahead of you, either way the time can provide erratic price movement, due to lack of traders (volume).
Not sure what you mean by actual market, most people are trading the broker’s quotes, not the underlying market.
In any case, its common that quotes and chart are not using the exact same data. For example, does your chart show the bid-price or the mid-price? This has a significant impact if you’re trading in very small numbers of pips over very short time-frames, especially when spreads between bid and ask can be stretched out such as when the underlying market is closed or very quiet or around news announcements.
Usually the broker will tell you in the event of any doubt, the quotes are the deciding number, not what’s on the chart.
My guess is that you have made the most commn Newbie “Pip” error here.
Looking at your photo - what is the pip value of the difference between the red and the blue lines ?
