What do you mean by market RANGING or TRENDING?
how to determine these?
Take a quick look at a chart. If it is flat or choppy, that is ranging. If it is like a diagonal from one corner to another, that is trending. trending is also like a hockey stick. That a very simplified explanation. You will not always see the clear distinction at first. It is important to ignore the noise and focus on the main action.
Edit: A easy way to tell if the markrt is ranging is if you are losing steadily. Most traders have a difficult time making money in ranging, markets. Its not impossible, but difficult.
you mean, choppy and flat and interconvertible words (synonyms)
No sideways and up or down.
Ranging means that it keeps bouncing between a ceiling and a floor, so not taking a particular direction. When trending you see that it goes up or down for a longer time. When trending and it goes down, the price will go above (or below) the last top (or bottom). Trending is often where you look on the chart and think: Djeez, I wished I had bought dollars there so that I could have made 1000 pips in one month!
Trend!
I guess you could say that.
You could plot a 18 point exponential moving average on your daily chart (this is equivalent to one month) and if the angle of the moving average is flatish, then it’s ranging. If it’s angled approx 12 to 2pm on a clock, it’s up trending, and 4 to 6pm down trending … but to be honest, it you don’t know if a pair is trending or ranging from a naked chart, then you need to spend a lot more hours learning forex. Good luck
A ranging market is one in which price bounces in between a specific high price and low price. The high price acts as a major resistance level in which price can’t seem to break through.
