what are the laptops that is recomended for forex trading
anything that has windows xp, vista, or 7 is fine.
It all depends on what you need? Do you need something to handle advanced charting or dual screens when your are at home/office or something that is very secure.
If you are looking for something that is ultra light but still has plenty of muscle, the new Samsung series 9 is a safe bet, it is more powerful than the Mac Air, thinner lighter running windows 7 which is essential for some trading platforms.
Personally I have the Dell D630 which has a SSD HD (this is a must have for me), secure ID card and fingerprint reader for added security.
The only thing I’d look for on a laptop that would make it better for forex is a number pad at the side, not exactly essential but it often comes in handy when typing lots of numbers in
Sorry, disagree with you therr.
Vista is not fine. It is a terrible OS. 7 is much better, but XP is still faster, pound for pound.
And by the way, with MT5 coming out soon, you might want a Core i3/i5 laptop, due to higher spec requirements.
Get Linux, Kubuntu is best, once you’ve run that you will hate Windows.
uses ubuntu 11.04 you wont ever use windows again rock solid no virus ever trading platform mt4 and go out and buy a good toshiba lappy will last ya years m8
Windows 7 is hands down better than Vista. Vista isn’t quite the ditch pig it used to be, but I still would never recommend running it. Also, Windows 7 has surpassed XP in speed and probably stability as well now. There have been lots of updates to get there.
MT5 is already out, and no one is adopting it. I’ve used it, it isn’t much more hardware intensive than MT4 at all.
I wouldn’t buy a laptop with anything less than an i3 in it. I would recommend an i5, though. The difference between the i3 and i5 is fairly substantial.
Also, I have never understood the love of Linux, in any flavor. I have been playing with computers since the early 90s, and have a degree in information technology (essentially a programming degree), and understand most of the nuances of Unix shell programming…Yet I still love Windows. I have tried a few different flavors of Linux, including Ubuntu, and I found the hassle not worth it. A lot of stuff simply just hasn’t been ported to Linux or OS X. Sure you can virtualize Windows… but after a while you realize you’re doing it a lot, and just end up going back to natively running it. Just my two cents. There are many people who disagree with me, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, I suppose.
Anyways… get an i5 based laptop. They are all pretty much sub $1000, and will last you for a while.
I have just bought Apple Macbook. Is it good for forex trading?
agree with everything. i5’s are awesome.
however, XP is actually still faster than 7 if we compare them with equal hardware. E.g. with 1GB ram each, or 2GB ram each, or 3GB ram each. If you’re running more than 4GB ram, then 7 will get progressively faster, the more ram you have, because XP can only take up to 3.5GB.
never understood why people use macs. i’m happy with Windows personally.
