Removing and adding EAs to MT4 Broker platforms

I have had problems removing EAs from the MT4 Trade Station. It seems that no matter how I remove them, as soon as I try to put them , or any other EA, on that same Platform the EA shows a frown instead of a smiley face. Of course it doesn’t work.

Up till now I have been uninstalling the Broker platform and installing a new one. There must be a simpler way of moving different EAs on and off the same Platform without all the extra installations.

Any suggestions?

i have no idea why that would happen all i can say is maybe its a problem with the actual EA? maybe re download the EA and then copy/past it in the experts folder again try different brokers using MT4, make sure the expert advisor button is on at the top of the system (ive made that mistake a few times :p)

Go to Tools / Options / Expert Advisors tab and ensure you have “Enable Expert Advisors” and “Allow Live Trading” clicked on. Then check the “Expert Advisors” button above the chart time frame buttons, if it has a red button, click it once and it should turn green with an arrow.

Any expert advisor worth it’s salt should have a PDF file showing how to enable it.

These platforms have already Run the EAs once on the charts I set them on. Sometimes for days or weeks at a time. As soon as I remove the EAs from the charts, any new charts I bring up don’t take the same or a different EA. Any chart just comes up with a frown in upper right corner. The same chart that was running the same EA 5 minutes earlier… Remove the EA, close the chart and open it or a different one, or leave it open, drag the EA to the chart and boom I get the frown.

kinetics,

rubberband is correct…you need to enable live trading for the EA.

When you load an EA it brings up a properties window where you can adjust some of the settings. On this properties window, you can click the “common” tab and there you can enable live trading. If you were to close the chart(or remove the EA) and reload the EA, you will again have to enable live trading because your platform has it disabled by default. Use the method explained by rubberband to change the defaults.

Live trading not enable is the only reason I can think of for the frowny face…

I’ll make sure I check that next time. :o
