Good point. Instead of the way things are… suppose instead that we lived in a world where there were only six thousand people… and seven billion tigers…
Well someone has to be at the top of the food chain! :o
Phew! well there now. I knew I could make it to 3,000
This is almost as bad as the gambling threads… armageddon outa here
ciao
There are no conclusions being jumped to at all Johnny.
The fact is that the large majority of members, regardless of how long they’ve been in residence, are being (initially) excluded at the expense of a very small, select minority from accessing a thread or threads due to the fact they don’t meet a certain minimum post count.
Views & opinions are being requested, offered & discussed in isolation (on this occasion) apparently relating to whether a certain section of the forum would interest these exclusive members.
What I, & it appears a couple others, want to know is why these views weren’t requested from a wider cross section of the sites membership as opposed to a specific group of posters?
Why are the initial views & opinions of one specific group of members considered more relevant or important than the rest of the membership?
True, but then most senior management executives making those types of decisions in their related fields usually have at least a basic grasp & appreciation of the tasks they’re being asked to comment & make decisions on don’t they.
If there isn’t such a measure then the next best & most logical fit would be to obtain a reaction & receive feedback from a fair & even cross section of the total membership.
That way everyone’s views & opinions are likely to be best represented.
Because the members of that one specific group were the ones being asked whether they were willing to initiate the conversations in the new forum area (meaning being exclusively responsible for starting new threads). For everyone else it would just be another place they could go and participate in discussions (just without the ability to start a thread). If the select group doesn’t go for it (as they haven’t) then the opinions of the rest of the community don’t matter because it won’t happen.
The only privilege being discussed is creating a forum section where only 1000+ posters can start threads, while everyone of course can contribute.
But I have to say that Sweetpip has come up with some suggestions in that highly exclusive thread that to me seem better and that would remove the valid objections you have
In any case you and catcher make good points and those of us who at least know our ABCs in trading know your worth as contributors. I’m certain the BP people know this too and I think/hope your concerns will be carefully considered.
Why this couldn’t have simply been dumped into a general thread within the suggestions section without spinning this ridiculous seniority/exclusivity slant to it god only knows.
Eerr, i think exclusive area would be fine, especially out of google’s radar and unhackable: there I would plug in pirated stuff for an online cliq of players, like for the cashflow102 game? Or my woolly-grail which i wont want to share with everyone but afew. Bliss.
