Ria's Version 2025

Hellooooo! Even if my past trades didn’t really go as planned last week, I’m still here feeling like a winner after the Philippine Midyear elections. I can talk about it all night, and I have so much to say about the results. But I’m just feeling super positive and happy because the younger voters now have more power. And they’re the crowd that’s more informed and critical of the public servants they vote for.  2 of opposition senators got in, and I think it’s already a big step!

I’m excited for the next 2028 elections, because more younger people will be able to vote then! I’m still on Cloud9 so I’m not sure it’s a great time to open a trade, but nothing wrong with checking out my charts for now! Good luck to us this weeek!

Definitely! :open_mouth: I feel like since he got in position, he does a lot of stuff that have been stirring the markets. And tbh, I’m not sure if I think it’s a good thing. But yeah! Hopefully we get into better trades this week. Any pair you’re currently checking out?

If I do decide not to trade this week after last week’s losses, I’m probably just gonna go around and share how excited and happy I am at the moment. :stuck_out_tongue: BUT time to check my charts before I decide.

I’m looking at the S&P (always - I just like it, US500), and I always have EUR/USD and GBP/USD charts there, too.

Are you still trading JPY pairs???

We had local elections and a parliamentary bye-election here (UK) recently, nothing like as significant as a general election but interesting because both Labour and Conservatives did very badly and many political writers and commentators are now saying “2-party politics is over, here” and I think they may be right, this time.

I’ve never tried trading that S&P (or anything other than currencies tbh). They seem super intimidating to me. Haha.

Just USDJPY at the moment! The other pair I usually check is the EURUSD. I thought I’d have better chances with majors but…

That’s interesting! :open_mouth: What do you think is the reason behind this? People don’t believe in the same principles or they just don’t like the candidates? :open_mouth: What comes after it then? :open_mouth: Is it possible for that type of system to be abolished there?

I’m sorry for the many questions! I’m just very curious! We don’t have the 2-party system here too, but we (idk if that’s just me tbh ) just categorize candidates depending on their stances on the current administration’s “leadership.”

Hmmm. Looks like USDJPY is currently bullish on the hourly, 4H and daily charts. :open_mouth: On the 4H, price just went below 50 RSI, but that’s still quite far from happening on the daily. A crossover also hasn’t happened, even on the hourly.

I take that back. The 4h RSI is also still quite far from dropping below 50. :open_mouth:

As much as I’m tempted to jump in with a short trade, I’m still not sure if it’ll be a good idea. :open_mouth: Tbh, I’m worried I’m getting in too late again.

While I sit on this, I’ll check out my EURUSD charts for now. Anyone trading either EURUSD or USDJPY?

Hmmm. Looks like the general trend for EURUSD right now (at least up until the daily) is bullish.

But no significant crossover has occurred yet. And no signals from RSI.

I must say that’s definitely the first (and maybe only) one I’d look at, if wanting to trade JPY.

My interpretation (“other opinions are also available”!!): people were appalled, over a period of years, at the Conservatives’ failure to control immigration, bad Prime Ministers (3, maybe 4 in a row), poor handling of the pandemic. Now they don’t like/trust Labour much either (less specifically clear why - mixed reasons).

The “Reform” party is doing very, very well. Led by Nigel Farage (pretty popular, and it’s not too hard to see why), he formerly led the Brexit Party and UK Independence Party, and some/many of the people are the same. Large numbers of people trust them on immigration and taxes too, I think. Farage is the bookies’ favourite to be the next Prime Minister, after the next general election.

Also our “Liberal Democrats” (nice people individually, it often seems to me, but some crazy policies) are doing well.

And the “Greens” (some crazy people and policies, it seems to me!) can suddenly do well, over “net zero” and energy issues.

So maybe we have a 5-party system, now?

There may also be a Conservative leadership challenge/election some time soon, which could be interesting. Its outcome might determine whether or not there’s any future possibility of a Conservative/Reform coalition or electoral agreement. I’m not sure.

Sorry for such a long-winded reply!!

I’m seeing that the closest to a “crossover” happening is on the EURUSD hourly chart and it’s bullish. :open_mouth: I’m considering getting in on a long trade and setting my TP @ 1.12114. I guess I’ll wait until the crossover actually happens. :open_mouth:

I’m actually very intrigued and thankful that you’re taking the time to explain them to me. I think I know the gist of US political parties, but I’ve never looked into other countries’.

It does seem to me like you have more than 2 parties (unlike the very clear cut Republicans and Democrats in the US!). But I wonder if all of these “parties” are allowed to have their own candidates? Or is the 2-party system limiting your options to only 2 candidates at a time? :open_mouth: And if you don’t mind HAHAHA or if you’re comfortable sharing, do you identify with any particular group? :open_mouth:

Yes, and they do, easily. I’d expect that at the next election, all 650 parliamentary seats will have a candidate from each of those 5 parties.

It’s kind of a “point of honour/pride” for them to put up a candidate in every single constituency, however unlikely they might be to win any specific seat, to enable their supporters and voters to vote for them. Exceptions are very, very rare and would arise only in the case of an electoral pact between two parties at either national or local level (terribly rare).

Some constituencies will have other candidates too, such as Scottish or Welsh Nationalists, and 2 or 3 other Northern Ireland parties.

And a few “independents” but they almost never win a seat (the exception might be an area with some hugely important local-only issue like a threatened hospital closure, where a well-known local doctor could possibly win the seat just once). But these are real rarities.

Mostly, people vote along established party lines and for established party beliefs, and they say so pretty openly when asked in opinion polls.

My current intention is to vote Reform, next time. I’m not left wing (that takes away Labour, Lib Dems and Greens, who are an openly socialist party here), and the Conservatives are a disaster area at the moment.

I know nothing about the political parties in your country and will have a look online before asking you anything!
