RULES + Welcome to the Introduce Yourself forum

hi valicourt: i am david w. and i am too a newbie on forex. i am demo trading but i have done some trading in the past with stocks and commodities. i like the graphs too and i trade only on short term using 5 minute charts. i use macd, rsi and 5,10 ema to get me in and out of trades and so far so good. i only try to make 5 or 6 pips per trade and i am trading 10,000 mini lots so one pip is $1.00. but when i lose, i only lose a few bucks or a few pips. i like to trade the sterling vs.the USD. there is some volatility there at times. i would like to make maybe 3 trades a day but never hold anything overnite. good luck with your trading and i am sure we may chat now and then. i am in south carolina, USA, east coast, about 5 hours ahead of you. later, david w.

Hi all,

My name is Glenn, I have been trading for about 10 years now and recently turned professional (full time trading). Can get a bit lonely (although I do have a couple of traders who I work with in our company) so I thought Iā€™d join the forum and meet some like minded traders.

I started out on stocks and options, blew up my account. Carried on for a bit and then realised that I loved the liquidity of forex. Been hooked ever since (although I am hard headed and blew up that second account too!). Finally reformed and consistently making money since. Patience is definitely the key to successful trading. Will be posting some of the trades that my team and I take, if anyone is interesting in understanding how we operate, give me a shout.

Good luck all!

Hello, Iā€™m Sam. Iā€™ve played poker professionally for several years since graduating with a finance degree. The USA govā€™t has made this significantly more difficult recently. Looking to transition to a new career, maybe Forex? I am new to Forex, but very motivated and a quick learner. Thanks!

Hello Dr. P,
Iā€™m Coats down here in TX. I was researching my next business adventure and came across trading and wondered why havenā€™t I thought about this before. I do not have any experience but going through all this training will get me on my way I hope.

Hello I am Andrew,

Learning forex for about a year, thanks to babypips for the fundamentals. Living in China, just want to meet some friends and share some ideas. My personal opinion about forex trading hierarchy is: banks manipulation>indicators>fundamentalism, my favorite method is using candlestick + bollinger bands. Right now, thinking of ways to survive bank manipulation methods. Still canā€™t believe how high is the EUR and unsustainable for the Europe economy. Anyway good luck to you all and feel free to contact me. Thanks again babypips for a great place.

Hello Everybody, Iā€™m Philip in Atlanta, GA. I was in the market back in 2007, lost a sum of money and got out of it the past few years but am back in the game. I am intrigued with it; it would not let me go.
Then, I had the wrong mindset. My only concern was how much money I could make, without putting any thought into protecting my assets.
Years ago I studied ichimoku and used it as my main charting system. I began studying again two months ago, and decided I would try a different approach, although I like ichi, I now realize that I am cluttering up my screen unnecessarily.
anyway, I love the market and would love throw ideas back and forth. Thanks and best of decisions to everyone.

I must say i have learnt a lot here. the school of pipsology is amazing! the simplicity of explanations make it easier for us non-english speakers to understand those core concepts! a job well done!

GoodDay -my name is Diane although I prefer MissCrow, which sadly seems to be a part of my regular diet.I am a complete newb -came across Forex the hard way -got sucked into a scam and decided to throw my money away. I feel somewhat silly for what I did, but I am the one who followed the garden path. Oddly, despite being broke -I do not feel loss, I feel strangely exhilarated. What a fantastic opportunity, boundless potential. I hope to look back on my fool hardiness as the price of education. With that end in mind I have been searching for useful information. I am very happy to have stumbled on BabyPips, the learning tools look awesome. Looking forward to tomorrow.

My name is Eric and I was introduced to the Forex through a consulting job I did on the technology side. The company was a new take on investment advising. However, it led me down the slippery slopes and nooks and crannies of the Forex education jungle. I have run from the fierce trader tribes that hold you at spear point to pay for classes that need other classes that need other classes, ad nauseum. After narrowly escaping I found another tribe with an almost plausible air of altruism and demo traded and paid for hefty monthly technology fees for a few months without results lol. I am still demo trading and now going through the school of pipsology. I am so grateful that I found you guys and gals. I have not blown up an account yet but had slow decline of about $3,000 over about 2-300 trades. Win/loss is more losses than wins by a narrowing margin. I feel like Iā€™m in the psychology bootcamp of Forex trading right where Iā€™m supposed to be and on track-wahoo and Iā€™m happy because this will be my new career.

Hi All,

My name is Nitropips from Nairobi, Kenya. I learned about FX trading along with Babypips about half a decade back and went further to open a demo account with Marketiva. However, due to certain crucial challenges at the time, including poor Internet access and lack of a real mentor, I opted to pursue other money generating activities, including online writing and audio file transcription. Fast Forward to today and thanks to decent Internet access and great online resources on FX, I am now able to pursue FX trading relatively comfortably. I signed up for a demo account with FXCM a week ago, (Trading Station II and not MetaTrader 4), and have been trading constantly since that time - 10+ trades per day. At the time of writing this my account is about $500 higher and my aim to grow the demo account by 20% week over week. Of course, I have realized is easier said than done, but intend to do my level best to achieve that goal and hopefully Iā€™ll find a good mentor to guide me through my journey.

Happy Trading.
