noobie here doing my study and using a few demos to get used to the software at this stage. I have no proper strategy and am reading up on various systems and timebases.
All my, fairly random, practice trades have resulted in loss except for the quick ones. Not quite scalping (holding position for less than a minute?) but just jumping on a trend for, say between 2 and 10 minutes, and closing with a modest profit.
Is this scalping, how would my broker/platform view this kind of trading?
I intend to develop longer term systems as my knowledge increases but is this kind of sort term trading profitable and acceptable as a noobies strategy?
I think holding a trade for just a few minutes would qualify as scalping.
Don’t think your broker would have any issue with this kind of trading. They’re taking home commission via the spread with each trade you place.
Scalping, in my opinion, is quite hard for new traders. It demands that you have a system that you can stick to, that you’re ready to quickly cut your losses if your trade goes against you and that your money management is spot on. I decided after giving it a go for a while that it wasn’t for me but it suits other people so go with what works for you.
