Hi Bob n all
.
Two tracks of the same song â Kris Kristoffersonâs Me and Bobby McGee
â one from the album Pearl (1971) by Janis Joplin (1943-1970),
â and a studio session by Pink (Alecia Beth Moore) in 2003.
Janis Joplin performed Me and Bobby McGee at Woodstock (1969), and in other venues in 1969 and 1970. She recorded it for her album Pearl, just days before her death of a heroin overdose at age 27. Pearl was released in 1971, and Janis Joplinâs Me and Bobby McGee posthumously became her biggest hit.
Kris Kristofferson and Fred Foster wrote Me and Bobby McGee, and it was first recorded by Roger Miller. A number of rockers, and almost every country singer out there including Kris Kristofferson, have performed or recorded this song over the past 47 years.
In the original version, Bobby McGee (the male singerâs lover) was a woman. Janis Joplin changed the lyrics to make Bobby (her lover) a man. Here are the Joplin lyrics â
Me and Bobby McGee
By Janis Joplin
Busted flat in Baton Rouge
Waitinâ for the train
Feelinâ nearly faded as my jeans
Bobby thumbed a diesel down
Just before it rained
Rode us all the way to New Orleans
I pulled my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna
And was playing soft
While Bobby sang the blues
With them windshield wipers slappinâ time
I was holdinâ Bobbyâs hand in mine
We sang every song that driver knew
Freedomâs just another word for nothinâ left to lose
Nothinâ ainât worth nothinâ but itâs free
Feelinâ good was easy, Lord,
When he sang the blues
And feelinâ good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and Bobby McGee
From Kentucky coal mines
To the California sun
Bobby shared the secrets of my soul
Through all kinds of weather, Lord
Through everything I done
Bobby baby kept me from the cold
Then somewhere near Salinas, Lord
I let him slip away
Lookinâ for the home I hope heâll find it
And Iâd trade all of my tomorrows
For one single yesterday
Holdinâ Bobbyâs body next to mine
Freedomâs just another word for nothinâ left to lose
Nothinâ left is all that Bobby left me
Feelinâ good was easy, Lord
When he sang the blues
And buddy, that was good enough for me
Good enough for me and Bobby McGee

Track #2 â
Pink channels Janis Joplin in Kris Kristoffersonâs Me and Bobby McGee
I like to trade to chill and ambient music because it helps set up the mood and makes me feel relaxed.
I agree. Ambient music is unobtrusive. It wonât take your focus away from the business at hand.
But, this thread is about âfavorite musicâ, not necessarily music to listen to while trading.
I donât listen to Janis Joplin while trading.
But, from time to time, when Iâm not trading, I get into a Janis Joplin sort of mood.
