I have gone totally candleless… and am having so much fun with it…and banking pips. My system is called “3 Cross 9” for want of a better title and the set-up and rules couldn’t be easier, not to mention the chart looks pretty too!
The set-up (save as template):
–THIS IS A TREND FOLLOWING SYSTEM
–All moving averages (MA)s are EMAs set to close as follows:
GREEN (the slow MAs)
36 EMA
33 EMA
30 EMA
27 EMA
24 EMA
21 EMA
YELLOW (the fast MAs)
13 EMA
11 EMA
7 EMA
5 EMA
BLUE (thick line)
9 EMA
White (thick line)
3 EMA
[B]RED (thick line)[B]
55 EMA This MA will help determine direction.
That’s all there is too it. Isn’t it pretty? But it’s not just a pretty face…it is powerful too.
SCANNING CHARTS FOR SET-UPS:
Determine trend direction from the H4 chart. Pull out chart to get as wide an overview as possible. Are the MAs under the 55EMA? Direction is short. Are the MAs over the 55EMA? Direction is long. This will determine our trading direction on the H1 and M15 charts.
On your chosen pairs, move to an H1 chart (you already know the direction you are looking to trade…if not, review Step 1. above.) You are looking for a cross in the desired direction of the 3 EMA over/under the 9EMA. It’s that simple.
Enter when the angle of the cross for long is between 12:00 and 2:00 on a clock face and enter short when the angle is between 4:00 and 6:00 on clock face.
Stops losses and take profits are up to you. I trade this system on the H1 and M15 charts and look for different profit levels for each time period and depending on how erratic the market is at the time.
They have not looked like spaghetti yet and I have been using this system for some time now. When the MAs do “mix it up” that is just congestion/consolidation and I wait for a breakout (BO).
AUDUSD
Buying on the pull back…even though the trend on the H4 chart appears to still be short…I could not resist buying on this very nice pullback and cross.
but there is so little interest that it is not worth my time. Here is another very successful simple no candle system I call the 1, 2, 3 Cross. I post this chart only to show that thinking (and trading) outside the box can be both fun and profitable.
Basically the cross of the 1EMA (which is PA) and the angle of the cross. I look for a cross on the H1 chart for a pair screening, then confirm with the M15 chart. I like to see the angle between 4 and 6 on a clock face for a short and 12 to 2 for a long.
I have been trading several systems without candles for around 6 months now.
