So if I wanted to start forex trading long term and do trading as my main source of income will I have to choose a spread betting account or a CFD account? And why? Wouldn’t it be easier to choose spread betting as it’s tax free? But a few people have mentioned CFD yet I’m not too sure of the differences.

better check with some one who lives and trades in the UK. There are a few more options you have to reduce your taxes. I am not in UK, but the spread betting is supposed to be tax free, but I think you can also do some forex trading training (in UK) and also use that to put you in a lower tax scheme.
