Which is better … place a stop loss or trailing stop … when trading using intraday methods ?
They are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
True, of course, but as soon as you place a T/S, your S/L becomes obsolete.
I think for day trading (targets of 20-50 pips), which out of necessity is being done on shorter timeframes, a trailing stop is more useful.
Noise on those timeframes is so high that every single pip should be grabbed.

There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.

I prefer a stop loss. If I trail, I do so manually. I prefer the control as I can adapt better to market conditions than a non subjective trailing stop.
If your broker has server-side TS then it’s definately worth using.
Otherwise this order kinda useless for me.
In general I prefer SL since it’s a simple way to limit your risks.
